From sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in music to completely redefining what it means to be a modern guitarist, this artist JUSTIN LYONS (also known as guitar slayer on socials) has proven time and time again why he’s in a league of his own. Known for his electrifying work with Machine Gun Kelly and performances alongside global icons like BLACKPINK and BIGBANG, his talent, versatility, and creative energy are impossible to ignore. Whether he’s delivering unforgettable live moments or putting his own signature spin on the Dallas Mavericks’ team intro, he brings a level of passion and originality that sets him apart. Beyond the music, he’s an inspiring creative and genuinely incredible person, and we’re excited to dive into this fun conversation with one of the most gifted musicians today.

Aly: What is the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you?

Justin: I lost my grandfather this year and the coolest thing is that I got to cut his hair after he passed. I used to cut his hair for maybe like 15 years. I used to be a barber. So that was really special.

Aly: What is something people might not know about you?

Justin: I used to be a barber and I was one of the youngest barber’s to ever go to barber school. I was fourteen years old.

Aly: If you could cast yourself in a movie or TV show which one would it be?

Justin: Shark Tank. It’s one of my favorite shows. I would just wanna learn from them.

Aly: Tell us a little about something cool that you’re working on.

Justin: I’m currently working on a country duo album! Shoutout to my homie Hi Jackson. He’s an awesome songwriter. People will get to hear me sing a little and play guitar a little more so I’m super excited about it.

Aly: What inspires you?

Justin: The consumers. The people. I’m watching their faces, I’m reading the messages, paying attention to them saying how the music inspires them or helps them get through a horrible day or horrible time. With mental health being one of my passions it just makes the mission of music so much more full of joy.

Aly: What advice would you give aspiring musicians that look up to you?

Justin: It’s so cliche everyone always says this but, don’t give up. Even visualize how you see yourself. I still stand in front of a mirror and act like I’m in front of thousands of people and helps me to know I’ve done this before. Even though I’ve been doing this for so long. But I think that would help the person because you have to first visualize yourself doing it and that starts the process. Also write it down. Write that dream, keep that vision alive. Don’t give up.

Aly: Do you have any pre show traditions?

Justin: For me definitely prayer time. I spend some time by myself to breathe. There’s a lot of moving parts with shows, especially of this magnitude. So making sure I’m really centered, my nerves are under control. I breathe say my prayers, do some push ups to keep the blood flow going. I do those on my own and then we get everyone from our crew together and do our thing.

Aly: What is your go to on the road snack?

Justin: Recently I’m on a three day fast. Like once a month. Just water. My go to’s I used to eat all the time are Cheetos and the Cheddar Ruffles. But now I’m eating Beats and all my vegetables.

Aly: Who is your favorite guitar player?

Justin: Growing up B.B King. My dad too he sounds like a modern day B.B King. He’s still killing it at guitar too, he’s 70. When I got older I became a fan of a jazz guitarist by the name of Norman Brown. Then when I got into performances I became a fan of prince. Prince is top for me.

Aly: What song are you most excited to play for the Lost Americana tour?

Justin: All of them! I’m thrilled to play every song on this tour. It’s been fun this was our first show of the tour. It was a great show, great execution. It didn’t feel like it was that long. Definitely a show to see. I’m glad we got to experience it with y’all. Thank y’all for being here. Phoenix was amazing it was a great start.

We’re beyond excited to sit down with Sam Cahill — an incredible photographer, visionary videographer, and talented director whose work continues to inspire us. Sam is the photographer, videographer, and director for major brands and artists including the iconic Machine Gun Kelly. He even directed and edited the documentary about Machine Gun Kelly Life In Pink as well as majority of Machine Gun Kelly’s iconic album covers, music videos, and more since the tickets to my downfall era. Beyond Sam’s creative eye and undeniable talent, Sam brings such an authentic, kind, and magnetic energy to everything he does, which made this interview an absolute joy. From storytelling through visuals to creating work that feels both cinematic and deeply personal, Sam is truly one of a kind, and we’re so grateful he took the time to have this fun conversation with us.

Aly: What is the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you?

Sam: Honestly being on tour it changed my life. Being in this position and being here. Couldn’t ask for anything else.

Aly: Tell us a little about something cool that you’re working on, without giving away too much.

Sam: I’m always working on something. But right now me and Kells (MGK) are working on some music videos!

Aly: What is something people might not know about you?

Sam: I’m actually really good at ping pong. My mom put me into tennis summer camp when I was probably seven to twelve years old. I didn’t love at the time but looking back on it not everyone plays ping pong. Started off with tennis and I think that rubbed off with being good at ping pong. I smoked the whole Seahawks team. I beat Russell Wilson in Ping pong I beat Cliff Avril, Michael Bennett. Stephen Hauschka held the 24k golden paddle for the Seahawks team at their training facility in Seattle Stephen was the best player on the team and if you beat him you were able to hold the paddle and I beat him and saw everybody a year later on my senior trip in Maui and smoked them again. So yeah I would say that I’m good at ping pong.

Aly: What inspires you?

Sam: Being around driven people. To me life is all about passing it on you could call that making a legacy, making an art piece, a song, it can be anything really. Passing it on is what inspires me.

Aly: What is your personal favorite music video that you have shot for the “Lost Americana album”?

Sam: I love all of them. But my favorite is probably “Vampire Diaries”. That one was giving me Michael Jackson vibes. We were working with a very talented choreographer Sean Bankhead that got Machine Gun Kelly right with the moves, he’s always been able to dance ya know he’s a live performer so he’s always had that swag to him. But Sean came in with this structure and broke it down. So that video is really cool. The idea kind of came from a music video “Weapon of Choice” by Fatboy Slim with Bootsy Collin’s in the early 2000s. They shot that video in this grand hotel and we chose the National History Museum. My favorite subject in school was history, specifically U.S History. I had to be there at the museum 2 weeks before the music video and meet the conservationist, she introduced me to the archeologists, and all of these people with scientific statutes I’m 28 years old and meeting all of these people that are like 70 years old, asking me how far the lighting and equipment would be from the statues. Because we couldn’t shine a light directly on the fossils because it could potentially damage them. Very strict. But it was really cool to be around those people and spend so much time there making the music video.

Aly: Speaking of Vampire Diaries, have you ever watched the show?

Sam: I have! There are so many seasons.

Aly: Team Stefan or Team Damon?

Sam: Team Stefan, Damon is cool too but Stefan’s my dog for sure.

Aly: What is your favorite thing about being a photographer/ director?

Sam: My favorite thing about it is being constantly creative. Pushing my brain. I never really have a day off like even if I was to go to the beach I’m still bringing my camera. So just always pushing my creativity.

Aly: What is your favorite thing to shoot digital or film?

Sam: Digital for sure. I love the look of film and everyone tries to emulate the look of film myself included. But just the developing process for the work flow of what I’m doing film doesn’t make sense for my work flow. But if the time comes to use my 16 mm, RE416 that would be sick too.

Aly: What song are you most excited to hear for this tour? I know this is only the first night of tour but so far.

Sam: I would say “outlaw overture” that song with the intro when the guitar comes down from the sky and he comes emerging from the Statue of Liberty’s mouth looks crazy. Yea that moment is just really cool to watch.

We loved interviewing these incredible Love Island All Stars! Zac Woodworth, Carrington Rodriguez, and Ciaran Davies truly live up to the “all star” title — not only are they charismatic and entertaining, but they’re also some of the most genuine and down-to-earth guys to talk to. Getting to know them beyond the villa was such a fun experience, and their energy, humor, and authenticity made this interview one we won’t forget anytime soon. In our “That’s Cool” segment, we highlight the exciting things our guests have done or are currently working on — the kind of stuff that makes you stop and say, “that’s cool!” We can’t wait to see what’s next for these three, so make sure to give the video a listen because this was definitely a fun one!

Question: What is the coolest place you’ve ever been to?

Ciaran: I would say Arizona.
Zac: I would say New Zealand, scenically its gorgeous.
Carrington: Positano, such a beautiful place.

Question: What is your favorite Love Island moment?

Zac: Besides meeting them I would say my first kiss with Mills and then when we jumped into the pool when we found out that we were in the final.
Carrington: Probably my first season, when I went to the final it was just a nice relaxing day, all my friends were there. Perfect little set up loved it, and of course meeting Zac and Ciaran.
Ciaran: I know mine. All of your answers are nice mine is just a funny one, winning was good but this is better. We went out of the villa for a little boys day out, I was a goal keeper in what we call football. I kicked the ball in the air over to Carrington but it went over his head, hit a pole and came back and hit his face and hit his eye. He took it well though. It was never shown but it was the funniest moment me and the boys were in hysterics.

Question: What is something cool that’s happened to you guys?

Zac: Going on Love Island! Very life changing.
Ciaran: I think that going to Sedona will be a really cool experience.
Carrington: I just moved to Los Angeles!

Question: It can be anytime, any place what is your dream meal?

Zac: A nice steak somewhere with loved ones. I’m not too picky.
Ciaran: The biscuits and gravy we had yesterday.
Carrington: Mine would be on a fishing boat in the middle of the ocean having a fresh seafood buffet with Lobster, Mussels, Oysters and everything.

Question: What is something people might not know about you?

Carrington: I was born in Germany.
Ciaran: I’ve got two passports I’m a New Zealand citizen I’ve never used the New Zealand passport, but I plan on it that will be my next destination.
Zac: I can beat everyone from Love Island in a game of basketball besides Chris Seeley. Besides him I’m giving everyone else buckets. But not in football.
Aly: Who would win in football?
Ciaran: From our season I would say Harrison Solomon.

Question: What is your next travel destination or dream travel destination?

Zac: Probably Greece, that’s what’s up next for me.
Ciaran: New Zealand.
Carrington: Mine would be Marbella.

Question: What is a fashion trend you want to bring back?

Carrington: I want to bring back the old school Hollister. The shirts, shorts, the puka shells, and bleach tip highlights.
Zac: I don’t know if it was a trend but jewelry for guys. I’m trying to get them more into it.
Ciaran: One for the UK I would say bring back Sik Silk. A clothing brand that every boy age ten to thirteen would wear. I used to wear it all the time. Then another one just in general I would bring back the Nike Rosche Shoes. They were so comfortable and cheap. I had loads I had so many colors.

Question: What is a song you never get tired of or currently have on repeat?

Zac: Panther City by Leon Bridges
Ciaran: Coal by Dylan Gossett
Carrington: Kiss her in front of you by Morgan Wallen.

Question: What is your something cool you’ve experienced post Love Island?

Ciaran: For me it’s gotta be getting a custom cowboy hat, at Rockin Street Wear. This is a cool experience.
Zac: Ya know what? I’ve never had a welsh friend before.
Carrington: Eating at Hells Kitchen. I had a custom whiskey with my name on the glass. Got to eat all the things I’ve watched Gordon cook, because I love that show I watched it with my mom growing up.
MaryElizabeth: Do you like to cook?
Carrington: I do like to cook.
Zac: Feel free to cook at my place.
Aly: Which of the three of you is the best chef?
Zac: Not me. I’ve seen Ciaran’s cooking videos they look unreal. Us three will have to judge Ciaran vs Carrington’s cooking.

Question: What is something that gives you the ick?
Ciaran: Girls with really long acrylic nails. How do you type on your phone?!
Zac: I would say big ego gives me the ick. I just want somebody who is happy to be going through life and hungry for more.
Carrington: Bad Hygiene. Gotta take care of yourself, wash your hair, shower everyday.

Night one of Machine Gun Kelly’s Lost Americana Tour at Desert Diamond Arena in Arizona was unforgettable for everyone there. One of my favorite things about MGK is his ability to light up a room and really captivate a crowd unlike any other performer right now. Machine gun Kelly himself is an immensely talented person. Talking with him personally I can say that he is unapologetically himself, extremely humble, and has such a passion and drive for what he does. Kells is multi talented he is a lyrical genius and an astonishing performer. With that said if you don’t have tickets already to any shows for this Lost Americana Tour you better not miss out on what will likely be the top concert of the year.

From the stage design to the lighting and effects and visuals as well as the creative direction, and just the out pour of hard work and dedication of passion to their craft that each and every person apart of the Lost Americana tour has put into the show is unbelievable. The performances you see during the 2 hour long show are unlike anything you’ve seen from Machine Gun Kelly this far. With mashups of his classics and OG songs to his new album Lost Americana and previously released album Tickets to my Downfall. The choreography that Kells and dancers Delaney Glazer and Caitlyn Holzer do is done with such precision and synchronicity while also being so fun that everyone around you starts dancing too. Choreographed by Sean Bankhead who has given us all some of our favorite songs and artists best dance moves’.

Of course an honorable mention to Machine Gun Kelly’s insanely talented band built up of an all star line up. From Slim who is also a producer and music director who has an amazing ear for music, Rook who some would describe as a modern day Tommy Lee or Travis Barker plays the drums so passionately, Baze who has so much stage charisma he will have you head banging along with him to every song, Justin Lyons known as guitar slayer has this ability to play with such effortless soul and has played with icons like the K-Pop sensations Black Pink, Sophie Lloyd’s guitar playing is electric she is a powerhouse, Andrew Migliore also known as No Love is a multi instrumentalist from guitar to cello and drums has this level of control that shows just how much skill and dedication he has to his instrument.

Sam Cahill has been Machine Gun Kelly’s photographer and director behind some of MGK’s most iconic photos, albums, and music videos. Sam’s eye for detail is incredible—he captures moments with such artistry that every photo or video feels like a story frozen in time. He is a creative mastermind.
